There might be no single dental procedure that patients dread more than root canals. Root canals involve drilling and numb faces and drilling and sore cheeks… and oh the drilling! However, despite what some may believe, a root canal is not a dentist’s favorite way to torture his patients. Root canals are actually performed to relieve pain caused by deep infection and severe decay, and they are often the only way to salvage a tooth from extraction.
Of course, none of this takes away from the fact that root canal procedures can be uncomfortable, and that’s where sedation comes in. (more…)
